Kate Manning's "blast from the past" has blown back to her quiet west Texas town Mitch Colter was once the sum of all Kate's fantasies. But he was a few years older and her brothers' best friend, and her fantasies stayed exactly that. Now however, Kate's got seduction in mind and a point to prove: she won't miss out on Mitch a second time.

Mitch can't believe the woman his "little Katie" has become. She's beautiful, has a body that gives him all kinds of naughty ideas and, best of all, she's lost none of her fiery spirit and take-no-prisoners sense of humor. So, when Kate comes a-calling—he can't resist—and won't But will their luck be better the second time around?

My rating:

Mitch Colter is back in town after eight years, just in time to witness Kate’s fiancé cheat on her. Kate, six years his junior, and his best friends’ sister. Kate that’s grown into quite a woman. And Mitch noticed. Boy, did he notice.

Kate noticed a few things as well. One, that Mitch hasn’t changed much, he’s still hot and hunky as hell. And two, he apparently isn’t as immune to her as he was before he left town. She’s grown up, after all.

But all this will have to wait, since Mitch is back in town for a different reason that to seduce little Katie that’s grown into the sexy Kate. He’s back in town to put a stop to a group of rustlers disturbing the nearby ranches. Including the one his family owns. And what better way to put a stop to it, than to lure them into a trap. Surveillance monitors and all. Of course, he’ll need a partner and since his two best friends, Kate’s brothers, are a little busy, Kate offers her assistance.

Strictly to help him monitor the security perimeter. At night.

This was a sweet, quick-read story with a few suspense elements that didn’t intrude on the romance. I’m not sure whether that is a good thing or not, because the romance wasn’t something to write home about either.

An average read with two rather likeable characters (once you forget the heroine’s few lapses of judgment after she catches her fiancé cheating on her), a lukewarm romance and predictable suspense subplot.

3 stars
