He'll strike when she least expects it.

Alexa Kyndall, an FBI special agent, has seen too many vile and unrepentant people escape justice. After coming off a harrowing kidnapping case, she visits her hometown of Stewart's Crossing while on a two-week vacation.

A serial killer is killing women in Alaska. Women similar in appearance to FBI agent's Alexa Kyndall's high-school friend. When Alexa talks to the woman, now much changes, it's obvious she's frightened...And hiding something.

Though an introductory story, it was definitely too short. It established the familial ties between the four Kyndall siblings, but that was pretty much it.

The premise itself was intriguing and interesting, yet the delivery fell short. The "action" was all over the place, the main victim was an annoying bitch, the killer came out of the left field and the abuse story line got mixed up in all that was happening.

A disappointing first foray into the series.
