She calls herself Lady Justice. And once she has chosen a man as her target, she turns herself into a tall blonde or a curvaceous redhead, makes herself as alluring and seductive as possible to them. Once they are in her grasp, they are powerless.

The first victim is wealthy businessman Nigel McEnroy. His company’s human resources department has already paid out settlements to a couple of his young victims—but they don’t know that his crimes go far beyond workplace harassment. Lady Justice knows. And in one shocking night of brutality, she makes him pay a much steeper price.

Now Eve Dallas and her husband, Roarke, are combing through the evidence of McEnroy’s secret life. His compulsive need to record his misdeeds provides them with a wide range of suspects, but the true identity of Lady Justice remains elusive. It’s a challenging case, made even more difficult by McEnroy’s widow, who reacts to the investigation with fury, denial, and threats. Meanwhile, Lady Justice’s criminal crusade is escalating rapidly, and if Eve can’t stop this vigilante, there’s no telling how much blood may be spilled...

My rating:

A vigilante has taken upon herself to rid the city of cheaters, liars, rapists...well, men. She assumes the persona her target/victim prefers to lure him into her lair and exact justice on behalf of all woman. She calls herself Lady Justice and knows she's doing the right thing.

Lieutenant Eve Dallas disagrees about the "right thing" and the "justice" part. Vendetta isn't justice. Murder isn't justice. Working outside the system isn't justice, and no matter what, she's determined to catch Lady Justice and show her what real justice looks like.

I'm glad the previous book was just a dud, because this one was far from it.

Intriguing mystery, wonderful characters and interactions between them (which was somehow missing in its predecessor), involving investigation, wonderful villain...It all worked as it should have.

I kept turning pages, kept reading because I was curious what would happen next, how the investigation would progress, and how it would end. I didn't mind the early reveal of the villain's identity, because I wanted to see just how Eve would connect the dots to get to the truth.
I was intrigued, I was curious, and I was riveted.

It had it all, action, mystery, intrigue, tight plot, a pinch of humor, the old gang in the old groove, and for those romantic at heart, some pretty sweet scenes between Eve and Roarke, proving these two are still going strong.

Loved it.
