My rating:

Verdict after the 1st book: MacKayla Lane is a selfish, self-centered, spoiled, hot-pink-loving Barbie wannabe that needed to be killed off in the first chapter to make room for a fitting (series-leading) heroine.

Unfortunately I didn't get my wish, but I did see some improvement in her character in the last few chapters. We'll see.
